The Huffington Post is hiring an associate tech editor. This is a full-time position based in New York City.
This position is centered around pitching and producing daily articles for HuffPost Tech that could also double as video pieces. The associate tech editor should be able to pinpoint the most important technology stories of the day, write articles and develop scripts for video pieces. This associate editor may also be called on to appear in videos showcased on HuffPost Rise, HuffPost Live and The Huffington Post's social media outlets.
The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience writing for major publications and a demonstrated interest in gadgets, tech business, the future of our planet and sustainability. The candidate should also have some experience producing online video content.
Candidates should be self-starters who know how to produce a well-sourced story on deadline. The associate tech editor will also work closely with editors and other writers, so flexibility, positivity and team spirit are all required traits.
While ours is a fast-paced newsroom, our associate tech editor will have the opportunity to work on longer enterprise pieces in addition to faster daily articles. We want someone who is forward-thinking and able to produce creative work that stands apart from the usual "Apple Announces X Product" coverage. As part of The Huffington Post's flagship What's Working initiative, our articles aim to help people live better lives. We want our readers to understand the problems facing our planet and how technology can present solutions.
To apply, please email a brief cover letter to tech editor Damon Beres at damon.beres@huffingtonpost.com . Include your resume and no more than five links to recent, relevant work. PLEASE PUT "ASSOCIATE TECH EDITOR APPLICATION" IN THE SUBJECT LINE.
