How To See The Messages Facebook Is Hiding From You

Standard

If you have Facebook Messenger, you might not be seeing every message that's sent to you.

In 2015, Facebook traded its much-maligned "Other" folder for "Message Requests." The new feature allows users to choose whether to accept messages from people they're not friends with on Facebook.

To cut down on spam, Facebook filters the messages you receive through Message Request, according to Cosmopolitan. While filtering probably prevents your Facebook inbox from overflowing with junk messages, it can also keep you from seeing messages from people who legitimately want to chat.

Checking to see if you've missed messages is pretty simple. Here's how to do it.

On your smartphone:

  1. Open the Facebook Messenger app and select the gear icon in the top right corner.

  2. Select "People."

  3. Tap on "Message Requests."

  4. Then select "See Filtered Requests" to see messages you've missed.

On your computer:

  1. Go to Facebook.com.

  2. Click on the chat box icon at the top of the page.

  3. Select "Message Requests."

  4. Then click "See Filtered Requests."

Done. You'll no longer miss messages on Facebook.
